Abstract

ARTEAGA BOTELLO, Nelson. Vulnerabilidad y desafiliación social en la obra de Robert Castel. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.68, pp.151-175. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article analyzes the concepts of vulnerability and social disaffiliation in the work of Robert Castel. The aim is to show how these concepts are derived from the discussion this French sociologist takes up both with the micro-sociology of Erving Goffman and the genealogical sociology of Michel Foucault. The author explores how this discussion centers on the examination of the modern individual from two standpoints: the institutional supports that make the construction of individuality possible and how these supports have been configured down through history.

Keywords : Goffman; Foucault; vulnerability; disaffiliation.
