Abstract

CAZES MENACHE, Daniel. La universidad en los procesos de democratización. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.68, pp.41-61. ISSN 2007-8358.

University activity has had a fundamental impact on the processes of forming social subjects, on the day-to-day construction of hegemony and consensus, on the critique of social relations, on the formulation of projects for change, and, in a no less intense, effective way, on the ongoing reproduction and management of the social system. This article reviews the history of the role played by universities in consolidating Mexican democracy.

Keywords : student movements; secularization; university students; teachers and workers; democratization; "de-massification" (scaling down massive size).
