Abstract
GONZALEZ RUBI, Mario Guillermo. La educación superior en los sesenta: los atisbos de una transformación sin retorno. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.68, pp.11-39. ISSN 2007-8358.
From the sociological point of view and based on different bibliographical sources, this article reconstructs some of the main traits of Mexico's system of higher education in the 1960s in order to enrich our understanding of the context in which the 1968 student movement took place. It sketches an exceedingly exclusionary system characterized by regional and institutional centralization that prompted young people to migrate and therefore study under conditions that barely allowed for their survival. However, the author does emphasize an incipient change in these trends over the course of the decade.
Keywords : exclusion; regional and institutional centralization; gender inequality; family tutelage; transformation.
