Abstract

TEJERA GAONA, Héctor. Cultura ciudadana, gobiernos locales y partidos políticos en México. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2006, vol.21, n.61, pp.41-70. ISSN 2007-8358.

Explaining the cultural configuration of citizenship requires dealing with the dynamic and changing inter-subjective construction of social perceptions and how these act in the political sphere. This article delves into the relationship among citizenship, political parties and government to explain both the configuration of identity and the citizen imaginaries, like the effect of that configuration on the dynamic of local social and political life. It shows how this relationship is molding identity, the imaginaries and citizens’ political behavior on a local level. Equally, it explores the impact that citizenship has on local democratic and participatory processes.

Keywords : citizenship; political behavior; trust; corruption; culture; democracy; Federal District; institutions; participation; parties; politics.
