Abstract
MARTINEZ SALGADO, Mario. Socioeconomic and territorial variations in the transition to adulthood in Mexico. An application of the entropy index. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2022, vol.37, n.3, pp.1007-1037. Epub Nov 21, 2022. ISSN 2448-6515. https://doi.org/10.24201/edu.v37i3.2046.
The main objective of this research is to evaluate the variations in the transition to adulthood patterns in Mexico, according to the socio- economic condition and the geographic context of young adults. Using the entropy index and data from the 2015 Intercensal Survey, we measure the heterogeneity of the transition to adulthood, considering the school, labor, and family domains combined. The results show that socio-economic and geographic conditions structure the life of young women and men, showing important differences in the timing of the status change in the above-mentioned domains.
