Abstract
SALAZAR CANTU, José de Jesús. The Oxxo-VETSA intersectoral alliance and its impact on social cohesion in the Rubén Jaramillo neighborhood, Monterrey, Mexico. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.2, pp.437-467. ISSN 2448-6515. https://doi.org/10.24201/edu.v33i2.1764.
The purpose of the study is to measure the impact on social cohesion of a program undertaken jointly by the FEMSA-Comercio (Oxxo) company and Voluntarios en Equipo Trabajando por la Superación con Amor, A.C. (Volunteers in a Team Working to Progress with Love) (VETSA). The program adopts the conceptual approach of Chan, To and Chan (2006) and the measurement procedure of México Evalúa and Fundación Hogares (2015). The estimation employs models of differences in differences and pairing. The main result shows that the intervention increased the index of social cohesion in the Rubén Jaramillo neighborhood in a range from 0.4220 to 0.6398 points, on a scale from 1 to 5.
