Abstract

ROLAND, Ernesto; SAPP, Camila  and  GERBALDO, Juan. Peronist Trade Unionism in the Justicialist Party of Córdoba and the Provincial Parliament (1983-1989). Secuencia [online]. 2023, n.116, e2045.  Epub June 23, 2023. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i116.2045.

This article reconstructs the incorporation of Peronist trade unionism into the Justicialist Party (PJ) of Córdoba during the democratic reconstruction (1983-1989). To this end, we describe the transformations that occurred in the link between the political and the trade union branch of Peronism following the rise of the internal current Peronist Renewal (RP). On the one hand, we consider the strategies of trade union organizations, their influence on the life of the party and their alignments with the fractions of the political branch. At the same time, we describe the nomination of former trade union leaders as candidates for public office, questioning their conceptualization as a variable reflecting the “de-unionization” of Peronism in the 1980s. We also reconstruct the legislative activity of union members-turned-representatives elected by the PJ in the House of Representatives of the Province of Córdoba, highlighting their initiatives, work agendas and links with other actors.

Keywords : democratic reconstruction; Justicialist Party (PJ); provincial legislature; union deputies.
