Abstract

This article is a transdisciplinary research proposal for constructing a social history with the help of photography. It describes the work involved in uploading the digital photographic library entitled French Photographers and Editors in México, which involves historical research that incorporated the analysis of photographic objects and the description of the photographs into networks of meaning. In order to justify this proposal, the author incorporates a series of reflections on various issues in the historiography of photography in 19th century México.
