The conflict over Casino de la Selva highlighted the urban crisis in Cuernavaca, Morelos; it was a violent conflict negotiated between prívate actors with opposing economic, moral and cultural valué systems, acting with, for and against public institutions (belonging to the municipality, state and federation) in both artistic and environmental fields. This essay interprets this conflict, within the context of local, regional and global frictions from a historical perspective, within Cuernavaca's urbanización process.
