Abstract

MARTINEZ SILVA, Eleocadio. "Red land, don't you run out". Consensus and resistance in a mining enclave in Aquila, Michoacán. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.144, pp.227-255. ISSN 2448-7554.

This essay examines the relation built by Ternium, a transnational steel company, through one of its mines, and the indigenous community of San Miguel Arcángel in Aquila, Michoacán, describing the consensus and resistances that have marked mine-community relations by tracing different episodes of confrontation in which questions like who should do what, and how this or that should be obtained, and who should obtain it, were debated.

Keywords : consensus; resistance; transnational company; indigenous community; mining community.
