Abstract

DIAZ-BORIOLI, Leonardo. The materiality of the image: photographic mirages in the practice of Luis Barragán. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2014, vol.35, n.140, pp.13-42. ISSN 2448-7554.

This article reviews and contextualizes the role of photography in the practice and reception of the modern Mexican architect, Luis Barragán, arguing that the remediation of his architectural work in Guadalajara towards photography -guided by his interest to become associated with the modern international movement- was the principal source of inspiration for the architectural style for which Barragán became internationally known.

Keywords : Luis Barragán; modern architecture; photography; Mexico.
