During the Viceroyalty, various estates (latifundia) were established in the province of Poncitlán and La Barca. Their principal economic activity was small livestock-raising. This study presents an analytical overview of 300 years of the history of the Hacienda de Ciénega that focuses on its conformation and the economic transformations it underwent prior to its dissolution in the 19th century.
