Abstract

CARRION, Gloria  and  DESGARENNES, Damaris. Effect of Paecilomyces lilacinus in Free-Living Nematodes to the Rhizosphere Associates Potatoes Grown in the Cofre of Perote Region, Veracruz, Mexico. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2012, vol.30, n.1, pp.86-90. ISSN 2007-8080.

The mortality of free-living nematodes (FLN) inoculated with a strain of Paecilomyces lilacinus (IE-430) was evaluated. FLN were extracted from soil samples from potato fields. The FLN were picked randomly and inoculated (five repetitions, N=500) with spores suspension of P. lilacinus and the other a control with the same amount. In order to quantify dead nematodes, individuals were observed for 12-120 h. One part of dead nematodes was identified and other placed in an agar-oatmeal culture medium to verify the presence of P. lilacinus. Eight morphotypes of FLN were identified from three trophic groups: bacterial feeders, fungal feeders, and omnivorous-predators. At 48 h significant difference was found between the number of dead nematodes in the P. lilacinus treatment and the control.

Keywords : Nematofagous fungi.
