Abstract

This essay addresses the problem of intelligibility suggested by the three stories written by José Revueltas during his confinement in Lecumberri after the repression of the 1968 student movement; stories which were collected in the book Material de los sueños: “Hegel and I”, “The side of the self” and “Ezekiel, or the slaughter of the innocent.” After reviewing some important critical works where the hermetic nature of these texts is thematized, the article suggests a conceptual contextualization based on the rereading of some theoretical-political passages by Revueltas himself, as well as by other thinkers, and draws a line of intelligibility by describing the operation of that hermetic mimesis.
