Abstract

This article rescues the enormous discussion about the novel Los días terrenales, by José Revueltas in the plane of philosophical interpretation. A reading of Los días terrenales is proposed through the proper instruments of philosophy in its dialectical dimension, through which the significant cast of philosophical problems that Revueltas summons with the construction of a great existential and human mural can be addressed. For this purpose, the ghost of Andrei Zhdánov y Blaise Pascal are invoked: their ideas regarding art, life, the absolute, political or moral commitment and, finally, the human condition guide the complexity of an author in his being both a communist writer and a communist who writes.
