Abstract

GARCIA HUBARD, Gabriela. Perhaps… Barthes and Derrida. Acta poét [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.1, pp.63-85. ISSN 2448-735X.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ap.2019.1.846.

This article analyzes the various points of contact between Roland Barthes’ “discourse of the perhaps” and Jacques Derrida’s “thought of the perhaps”, in order to make note of their critical role in contemporary social and political struggles: first by an examination of the concepts of “game” employed by both intellectuals as an alternative to the Sartrean figure of the engaged writer, and then by analyzing the theoretical connections that stem from the use of suspension, or epoché, as a de-stabilizing axis of philosophical problematization, of being, of the metaphysics of presence, and of the formulation of concepts.

Keywords : Derrida; Barthes; Perhaps; Epoché; Game.
