This article shows the Platonic and Aristotelian background of something that could be named poetics of pseudonym: it exposes different explanations about the reason why Iamblich, the Neoplatonic philosopher, used a pseudonym when he wrote his work Upon the mysteries, and argues that Iamblich took into account that poetics in his use of the recourse.
