Abstract

WALL, Anthony. Glenn Gould y el retorno en las Variaciones Goldberg. Acta poét [online]. 2006, vol.27, n.1, pp.293-323. ISSN 2448-735X.

Anthony Wall analyzes music in the widest cultural context of its semiotic manifestations. Music and philosophy interact in the interpretation of music. The syntactic problems related to musical variation are referred to the express desire underlying the anthropological core of our human nature to represent in positive terms our recurrent contact with death. Music (by reference), word (in its metalinguistic function) and image interact dialogically in this text. An interdisciplinary approach to music through the analysis of Bach's Goldberg Variations and its transformations in the early and late versions by Glenn Gould, the outstanding Canadian pianist.
