Abstract

DRUILLE, Paola. The Cherubim, the flaming sword, and the Cause in Philo of Alexandria. Nova tellus [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.1, pp.73-95. ISSN 0185-3058.

The allegory in Philo of Alexandria is an exegetical method aimed at revealing the transcendental truths in the Pentateuch. This practice is based on a reconstruction of the meaning in different hierarchies of the interpretation which incorporate the Jewish-Hellenic tradition as a means to create a theological system that accounts for the philosophical basis of the Jewish monotheism.

Keywords : Philo of Alexandria; exegetical method; Pentateuch; Cherubim.
