Abstract

BARO, Silvana María. Women and University in Argentina: contexts and challenges. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2021, vol.50, n.199, pp.117-128.  Epub Mar 21, 2022. ISSN 0185-2760.  https://doi.org/10.36857/resu.2021.199.1803.

Free university education doesn´t guarantee access for women from various social contexts. A review of the history of the insertion of women in universities makes us reflect on how much to achieve to conquer other areas that include the public sphere. The objective of this article is to recognize the situation of women from different contexts in relation to access to both universities and the public sphere. A theoretical reflection was carried out on the challenges that women still have to face to conquer public spaces and to abandon the exclusivity of the traditional role. In Argentina there are women who live different realities, some play a more traditional role and others who do manage to continue their university studies.
