Abstract

ARCIGA, Blanca Ε.. La enseñanza superior como una práctica socio-cultural. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2007, vol.36, n.141, pp.67-91. ISSN 0185-2760.

In the face of globalizing practices and their technical rationales of means and ends that have permeated higher education institutions, university professors are currently exercising their educational practice in an atmosphere full of com-plex changes and different dynamics that are transforming their ways of under-standing and going about their teaching. Given this situation this article presents a series of conceptual enclaves that allow us to rethink teaching as a socio-cultural practice that is immersed or determined by cultural traditions and in-serted in very specific conceptions about education, university and what a "good society" is. Through reconsidering the educational practice in such socio-cultural dimensions this work seeks to enable teachers to make different inter-pretations of their present reality and become aware of the factors of continuity and change present in all educational transformations.

Keywords : Teaching; professional practice; globalization.
