Abstract

GUTIERREZ-ANGUIANO, Nancy Noemí  and  CHAPARRO CASO-LOPEZ, Alicia Alelí. Evidence of reliability and validity of a scale for self-assessment of teaching practices in junior high school. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2020, vol.42, n.167, pp.119-137.  Epub Apr 30, 2020. ISSN 0185-2698.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iisue.24486167e.2019.167.59193.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a scale for self-assessment of teaching practices in junior high school, based on the indicators of Danielson’s Framework for teaching (2013). The instrument was developed in three stages: in the first, the instrument was designed; in the second, evidence of validity of content was established; and in the third, a pilot test was conducted with a sample of 203 junior high school teachers, to produce evidence of reliability and validity related to the construct. As product, we obtained a self-assessment scale with 70 items across five domains: planning, classroom atmosphere, teaching, evaluation of learning, and professional responsibilities. An index of reliability of .98 was identified, with acceptable indices of goodness of fit in the confirmatory factorial analysis, which corroborates the congruence of the items with the construct.

Keywords : Self-assessment; Teachers; Pedagogical practice; Junior high school; Validity.
