Abstract

Reflections about a black man's problematic image in a primary education institution of Medellin (Colombia). Perfiles educativos [online]. 2012, vol.34, n.136, pp.162-183. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article proposes a reflection about the problematic image of a black man. This reflexion is carried out from the framework of race, gender and sexuality, intensifying its interpretations from what the author could observe in a primary education institution that has constructed its theoretical premises principally based on the theory of liberation. The author questions, hopefully in a radical way, the comfortable position adopted by many institutions in order to occlude the criticisms voiced to condemn homophobia, gender disqualification -above all when it is a man who is discredited- and racism. The author's opinion is that the alarms that are fired when people realize their children's teacher is a black man are alarm that are fired because of an erotic and sexual imagination that performs deep down as prohibition and desire.

Keywords : Prohibition; Desire; Race; Gender; Sexuality; Liberating education.
