Abstract
BURGOS FLORES, Benjamín and LOPEZ MONTES, Karla. The effects of overeducation and of the gap between knowledge and wages and the search for a job of professional: The result of study based on opinions and perceptions of university graduates and employers. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2011, vol.33, n.134, pp.34-51. ISSN 0185-2698.
In this article the authors analyze the presence of overeducation and how knowledge is totally out of phase in the labor market of graduate students of a Mexican public university. Starting from the data gathered from surveys to graduate students and their respective employers the authors construct variables in order to carry out Mincer ordinary regressions that help to measure the effects of both phenomena on wages and logistic binary regressions to calculate their impact on the search for an alternative job. The authors find evidence that allow them to assert that professionals who are in a situation of educational and knowledge gap have lower wages and therefore tend more to search for alternative jobs.
