Abstract

CRUZ FLORES, Gabriela de la; DIAZ-BARRIGA ARCEO, Frida  and  ABREU HERNANDEZ, Luis Felipe. Tutorial work in postgraduate studies: Rubrics as guidelines for its practice and assessment. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2010, vol.32, n.130, pp.83-102. ISSN 0185-2698.

Tutorial work in postgraduate studies is indispensable for the training of researcher-to-be, since it offers a high potential to revitalize knowledge, to integrate collaboration networks and to position new leaders for the generation, innovation and transfer of knowledge. However, the tutors task is far from being simple, since they lack of instruments to guide their practice; therefore they sometimes act following their own beliefis and previous experiences, without carrying out a permanent refection about their work as trainers. Te purpose of this article is to present guidelines able to regulate the tutors' practice in postgraduate programs oriented towards research. To achieve this goal, the author chose to establish rubrics where the different competences and execution levels that are necessary during the tutorial process are distinguished. For the construction of those rubrics the author carried out a thoughtful revision of the literature, feldwork and discussion groups.

Keywords : Tutors; Tutorship; Comprehensive education; Educational innovations; Postgraduate studies.
