In this article, the author analyzes the resemblances and differences between the printed and electronic text modes, on one hand, and on the other the ways of reading those documents. The main reflexion is about the vertiginous dissemination of electronic texts in our lives and our practices as readers, althouth the author thoroughly weighs up how many of those actually are texts and new reading practices and how many times we only have to do with a change of medium. The analyses show some emerging research topics, related to linguistics, psychology and pedagogy, emphatizing some resemblances -like the use of the same graphic system, the referential function, etc.- and differences, such as the rapidity of transmission, accessibility and scope, transportibility, multi-mode and interactivity of some texts.
