Abstract

This work is aimed to analyze the development of factory works in Mexico City in the 19th century, not investigated so far, glass manufacturing among them. This production was carried out in seven factories located on the outskirts of the city with participation of at least one hundred and forty-nine workers of various specializations and trades. The output was diverse and destined for food and beverage consumption saloons and factories managed by European intermediaries and Mexican producers. Glass imported from Europe did not weaken this industry.
