Abstract

BAUTISTA GARCIA, Cecilia Adriana. The pursuit of an agreement between Mexico and the Rome in the late 19th century. Estud. hist. mod. contemp. Mex [online]. 2012, n.44, pp.93-136. ISSN 0185-2620.

During Porfirio Diaz's rule as Mexican president, the Holy See attempted to reestablish diplomatic ties with the Mexican government to consolidate the relationship between Church and State in an official pact. This analysis contributes several elements to the examination of this problem, within the context of the Romanization of the Mexican Church.

Keywords : Catholic Church; Liberal State; agreement; Holy See; Porfiriato; apostolic visit; Romanization.
