Abstract

MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, Roberto. Las entidades anímicas en el pensamiento maya. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2007, vol.30, pp.153-174. ISSN 0185-2574.

The main intention of this work is to define the nuclear aspects of Mayan conception of soul. By the comparison of modern ethnographic data with ancient information, we are going to recognize four main types of vital forms: heart, breath, heat and shadow. In order to valuate the unity and specificity of this system of beliefs, the last part of this article will be dedicated to the comparison of our model with Nahuatl images of soul.
