Abstract
SANCHEZ SANTIRO, Ernest. The general reason books of the Royal Treasury as government instruments of the Royal Erary of New Spain (1786-1818): an unfinished work. Estud. hist. novohisp [online]. 2017, n.57, pp.79-96. ISSN 2448-6922. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ehn.2017.05.002.
The article analyses the elaboration process of the general reason books of the Royal Treasury of New Spain, planned in the Intendants Ordinance of 1786, in connection with what was provided in the Indies Laws Compilation of 1680. The paper also explores the conflicts caused by this reform in the three government levels of the royal treasury of New Spain (local treasuries and income offices, the intendancies and the kingdom), showing that the final result was an unfinished work.
