Abstract

PEREZ JIMENEZ, Miguel Ángel. Second-Person Interactions: Affective Pragmatics and Normativity. Diánoia [online]. 2023, vol.68, n.90, pp.143-155.  Epub Oct 30, 2023. ISSN 0185-2450.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iifs.18704913e.2023.90.1995.

In this paper I propose three different lines of development of Pérez and Gomila’s account of the second person perspective of mental attribution. Taken together, these lines of development highlight the relevance of offering a more fine-grained characterization of the relations between the mental and the normative from the point of view of the second person. My three lines of development build on the theory of affective pragmatics but go beyond it. I focus on second-person interactions rather than second-person attributions, considering the infant-caregiver interaction as a paradigmatic case.

Keywords : second person; normativity; affective pragmatics; emotional interaction.
