Abstract

RICO MALACARA, Alan Yosafat. “The Walls of Exile”. Reflections on the Transformations of the Dynamics of Exile Following the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2020, vol.65, n.238, pp.325-343.  Epub Feb 05, 2021. ISSN 0185-1918.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2020.238.71990.

One of the most important events that shaped the twentieth century was the Fall of the Berlin Wall. Its significance and scope is of such magnitude that it modified both the glaze of the preceding historical developments and the sociopolitical dynamics that followed. The article aims to reflect on the transformations suffered by exile processes, based on a critical view of the causes and consequences of this phenomenon. Through a comparative and documentary strategy, some general elements of the logics of production and development of exile, seen as a political exclusion will be explored before 1989 and as they happen nowadays, without losing sight of social networks, and political and institutional actors who generally influenced and influence these dynamics.

Keywords : fall of the Berlin Wall; exile process; institutional dynamics; widening exclusion.
