Abstract

ALARCON OLGUIN, Víctor. Moisés Ochoa Campos (1917-1985). The First Political Scientist in Mexico. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2016, vol.61, n.226, pp.473-499. ISSN 0185-1918.  https://doi.org/10.1016/S0185-1918(16)30019-8.

During recent decades there has been a second great cycle of analysis intending to research and evaluate the origins and evolutionary trends that have shaped Mexican political science. This article addresses biographical elements and the production of Moisés Ochoa Campos (1917-1985) who, in 1955, became the first Mexican graduate in political science of the then Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (National School of Political and Social Sciences of the UNAM). Both the contents of the thesis presented towards obtaining the first academic degree in political science in our country (which places him as a pioneering analyst in matters of municipality), and other aspects of his extensive written work are examined. Undertaking this kind of biographical analyses is essentially relevant for the preservation of political science's intellectual history, both in Mexico and in the Latin-American region.

Keywords : Moisés Ochoa Campos; Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales; political science; municipal studies; intellectual history.
