Abstract

KORSBAECK, Leif. Politics in San Francisco Oxtotilpan. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2011, vol.56, n.211, pp.103-120. ISSN 0185-1918.

The following text analyzes the political process in San Francisco Oxtotilpan, an Indian community in the State of Mexico. To this effect, it presents a brief ethnographic description of the community, with its social and the most important cultural characteristics followed by an examination of the system for religious appointments and its relevance to the political process of the community, since one of the principle differences between politics in the Indian world and the cross breed is the intervention of a religious cosmology in the political process.

Keywords : political process; indigenous community; process of legitimation; religious cargo system.
