Abstract

CORTEZ YACTAYO, Willy Walter. Dispersion and Stability of the Interstate Wag Differences in Mexico, 1984-2000. Inv. Econ [online]. 2005, vol.64, n.253, pp.123-158. ISSN 0185-1667.

Economic liberalization has induced a new dynamics on wage setting and employment on Mexican labor market. These changes have been caused by two related events: productive restructuring and increasing labor market flexibility. To the extent that productive restructuring has implied significant regional changes, we assess if these regional changes have been accompanied by significant changes in cross state wage differences by educational levels. We find evidence that there is a small trend for the wage differences to decline among college graduates. However, the evidence among lower educational levels is less conclusive.
