Abstract

QUINONES MARTINEZ, Marcela. Mujeres indígenas a través de la lente de Frida Hartz. Cuicuilco [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.59, pp.9-39. ISSN 0185-1659.

This article addresses the images of Mexican photojournalist, Frida Hartz, who worked for La Jornada newspaper for nearly 20 years. Six of her photos, taken from 1986 to 1993, reveal the identity which the photographer was attempting to assign to the indigenous women in some zones of Central America, through her photographic imagery. Therefore, certain aspects are addressed, such as indigenous women, the newspaper's role and Frida Hartz' particular view of these topics.

Keywords : photographic imagery; Frida Hartz; indigenous women; Mexico.
