Abstract

BENCIOLINI, Maria. Entre el orden y la transgresión: el consumo ritual del peyote entre los coras. Cuicuilco [online]. 2012, vol.19, n.53, pp.175-193. ISSN 0185-1659.

In this paper I show how the Cora people consume peyote in ttwo different rituals. As a hypothesis, I propose that in both cases this cactus is used to mark especially moments, characterized by the lack of authority and control. For that, I'll consider some aspects about the status and modalities of the peyote's use and than I'll relate this data with others elements of the ritual. Also compare peyote's symbolism among the Cora and other ethnic groups of northwestern Mexico.

Keywords : peyote; Christ; rituality; transgression.
