Abstract

FUENTES, Rocío. Convergencias y divergencias en dos discursos sobre la educación intercultural. Cuicuilco [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.48, pp.165-189. ISSN 0185-1659.

Intercultural education is a field in which different actors, points of view, objectives and interests compete and intersect. The objective of this study is to analyze the discourses about intercultural education held by two groups of key actors in the indigenous context: teachers and representatives of the Mexican educational system. Through a critical and analytical discourse perspective, the continuities and ruptures in these discourses are shown, particularly those regarding the definition of intercultural education and its emphasis on moral values to address cultural diversity. The results show agreement, but also important differences in the ways of understanding the objectives of intercultural education.

Keywords : intercultural education; critical discourse analysis; cultural diversity; Mexico.
