The article shows the assessment of the communicative and interpretative devices of the exhibition The alluded body (Museo Nacional de Arte, 1999). The devices themselves were analyzed (location, lighting, format, length, content, operation, etcetera) as well as in relation to the different uses made by the visitors. The text explores a rich range of research techniques: audience observation, interviews to visitors and museum staff, documental analysis and evaluation of the museographic design.
