Abstract

LEAL FERNANDEZ, Gustavo. Pensions in Mexico 1995-2018: sunset of a failed strategy. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2019, n.48, pp.53-71.  Epub June 04, 2020. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2019.48.70420.

This paper presents some evidence of the recent Mexican pension challenge. First of all, the failure of the big reforms over the main social security institutions: IMSS (1995) and ISSSTE (2007) and, also, the urgent integral revision of the current structure of the SAR. The scope of the new redesign must be the future benefits for the baby boomers near to retirement and the millennials new generations of young workers.

Keywords : Mexico; pensions; social security; reforms; government.
