Abstract

HERNANDEZ TREJO, Ninfa Elizabeth. Electronic voting in the construction of a model of electronic democracy. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2019, n.47, pp.61-85.  Epub May 31, 2020. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2019.47.69500.

The objective of this paper is to present a proposal for a model of electronic democracy based on the political use of technology, particularly electronic voting. To do this, an analysis of the use of electronic voting in mechanisms of citizen participation is made, with which it is possible to contribute to electronic democracy because, unlike when it is used in electoral processes, in these the voter is involved in more elaborate decisions, as the destination of public spending or the legislative process; and it can be achieved by relying on technology to generate channels of information, deliberation and decision making.

Keywords : Electronic voting; citizen participation mechanisms; electronic democracy; Information and Communication Technologies (ICT); Internet.
