Abstract
CANTO SAENZ, Rodolfo. Mobilization of the disadvantaged: condition of human and sustainable development. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2018, n.45, pp.83-112. ISSN 0185-1616. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2018.45.67130.
The author of this article argues that economic growth and democracy are not enough to ensure human and sustainable development objectives, even if both factors must be present. Despite the existence of high growth rates and free elections, it is possible to observe how poverty, inequality and environmental deterioration are accentuated when the economic and political power is concentrated in elites that resist social change. Given this scenario, the political organization of the working classes is essential to translate their demands into effective public policies. The agitation and mobilization of the disadvantaged, with the support of their allies, broaden the scope of public reasoning in a democratic society.
