Abstract

RAMIREZ SAIZ, Juan Manuel. Constitutive dimensions and structural axes of citizenship. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2012, n.26, pp.11-36. ISSN 0185-1616.

This paper examines two issues that are distinct, yet directly linked: the key components of citizenship, and the factors that cut across citizenship and link it to other phenomena. More specifically, it look separately at two sets of issues: a) the five dimensions of citizenship (civil, social, economic, cultural and political), and b) its four structural foundations (its legal foundation or state recognition, its cultural foundation, practices or citizen-driven agency, and citizenship institutions).

Keywords : Citizenship; human rights; responsibilities; dimensions of citizenship; structural foundations of citizenship.
