Abstract

ARNAL, Ariel. La Guadalupe: Sociopolítica mexicana desde la iconografía religiosa. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2010, n.21, pp.101-112. ISSN 0185-1616.

This article presents a brief overview of the link between history and iconography in the formation of the mexican national identity. In particular, the author takes up the image of the Guadalupe virgen, as one of the key elements for the formation of that identity. From the perspective of the author the conception of national reality has been linked through-out history by parameters defined from the State as "official identity" which has prompted the Mexican society to build its coincident reality sometimes with and sometimes especially faced with the government.

Keywords : National identity; political regime; Mexico; virgen de Guadalupe.
