Abstract

DIAZ CAYEROS, Patricia. Pablo de Céspedes entre Italia y España. An. Inst. Investig. Estét [online]. 2000, vol.22, n.76, pp.5-60. ISSN 0185-1276.

This work examines the frescoes painted by Pablo de Céspedes during the third quarter of the 16th century in the Bonfili chapel at the Santa Trinità dei Monti Church in Rome. These are the only works remaining from his first period in Italy. The study details the manner in which this humanist transformed certain models that had influenced him during his youth. Likewise, later texts are used to describe the artistís pictorial development and illustrate his practical and theoretical facets: the preoccupations of his youth and mature years; the influence of his time in Italy on his work; his particular way of thinking and contributions to the Roman artistic milieu.
