Abstract

This article presents a review of colonial buildings in the state of Chiapas, Mexico, damaged by the earthquake of September 7th, 2017 (Mw= 8.2). A brief description is given of the structure of the buildings analyzed, their damage and their intervention processes to which they have been subjected, as well as their performance and damages during the September 7th, 2017 earthquake are described. The experience of structural engineering applied on historical building restoration projects are discussed.
