Abstract

ARAGON ANDRADE, Felipe Orlando. ¿Por qué pensar desde las epistemologías del sur la experiencia política de Cherán? Un alegato por la igualdad e interculturalidad radical en México. Nueva antropol [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.84, pp.143-161. ISSN 0185-0636.

The purpose of the present article is to discuss, within the context of the democratic crisis which we are currently experiencing in Mexico, the theoretic and political relevance of the proposal of the Epistemologies of the South when thinking about the communitarian democracy which arose in 2011 in the Purepecha community of San Francisco Cheran (Michocan). Viewing the political experience of Cheran from the critical theory allows us to remember that the most important commitment of social knowledge in the context of present-day Mexico should be to think about and enable, in conditions of equality and radical interculturality, the transformation of this unfair social and political system which excludes, marginalizes and discriminates against the subaltern groups and especially Indian communities and people in many ways.

Keywords : Cheran; democracy; politics; epistemologies of the south.
