Abstract

MONTES DE OCA BARRERA, Laura Beatriz. Entre activistas, funcionarios e industriales: Aplicación de la etnografía -enfocada y política- en escenarios de gobernanza. Nueva antropol [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.83, pp.25-46. ISSN 0185-0636.

This paper presents a reflection on the power of ethnography in social research, emphasizing the recently recognized utility for sociological research through focused ethnography. To do so, it is emphasized the epistemological and methodological application of ethnography in studies developed in Political Sociology to analyze governmental and public decision scenarios and processes, where the actors involved has different power resources. Ethnographic findings on two scenarios provide clues to re-conceptualize what is called in political theory "governance". The intention is to show ethnography as an innovative method to capture the detail "microscopic" of the reality studied, combining emic and etic perspectives that offers significant potential to reduce the gap between concept and "reality", and thus contribute to the confirmation and refutation of theories.

Keywords : focused ethnography; methodology; sociological investigation; governance.
