Abstract
VARGAS GONZALEZ, Pablo. Pobreza, migración y desempleo: mujeres en la región otomí-tepehua de hidalgo. Nueva antropol [online]. 2011, vol.24, n.75, pp.93-109. ISSN 0185-0636.
In the context of an aggressive, destructuring, globalizing process for rural and indigenous communities, the adaptation and resistance of women in the Otomi-Tepehua region of the state of Hidalgo is a significant experience. The case of the organization of indigenous women for "Arte de Tenangos" (Minarte) represents an effort to shake off obstacles, even of a structural type, as well as to confront the poverty and unemployment in the area. The women face adverse conditions of intermediation, fragmentation, and individualism, and they have generated strategies of "social capital," organization under schema based on trust and mutual support, as well as the creation of productive social networks and collective, communitarian leadership.
Keywords : poverty; migration; unemployment; women; Tepehua-Otomi area.
