Abstract

CASTRO-FRANCO, Rubén; VERGARA GARCIA, Gustavo G.; BUSTOS ZAGAL, María Guadalupe  and  MENA ARIZMENDI, Wendy. Diversidad y distribución de anfibios del estado de Morelos, México. Acta Zool. Mex [online]. 2006, vol.22, n.1, pp.95-101. ISSN 2448-8445.

An updated list of thirty eight species of amphibians, based on historic data, and complemented with field work and other information from collections is presented. All records are supported by museum specimens. The genera with the greatest number of species are Bufo, Hyla and Rana. Bufo compactilis, Hyalinobatrachium fleischmanni, Rana maculata and Rana vaillanti are recorded for the first time in Morelos. Crop fields and tropical deciduous forest, in the central-south region of Morelos, are the environments with the greatest diversity; similarly the highest diversity (H') occurs in the tropical deciduous forest. The amphibiofauna is distributed in two big assemblages, one very diverse living in subtropical lowlands and other less diverse living in high and cold areas.
